Another Update

Hi gang,

Long time, I know... things in the new town are going along well, I'm adjusting to my new life.

Feels like I always apologize for my absences lol, but again, sorry.

Weight wise, I'm not doing too badly. The road trip up here garnered me a 3 pound loss, which is no mean feat. Since I've gotten settled, I've gone up and down a bit, and am currently sitting at exactly 10 pounds over LDW, at 122.1.

Update

Well, again sorry for the long absence... seems to be a pattern of late. Once I'm settled in my new home, etc, I hope to be a more regular poster.

I ended my round (38 days) on September 1st with a weight of 112.1 (a pound over my goal weight, so that was fine). Since then, it's been a challenge, a week in Orlando Florida, where over all I ate well, but the socializing and drinking that went along with all of that didn't do me any favors.

Round 5 Phase 2 Day 37 - 19.6 released!

Again, sorry about the absence... lots to do.

Only two more days on HCG to go. I messed up for a couple of days, going off protocol (a couple of twizzlers and oreos, and I really do mean only a couple, but it meant a 0.7 gain from yesterday, I had broken the 20 pound barrier).

But... cut me some slack. I've done incredibly well given the breakup, the total changing of my life, emotions etc.

It's going well, diet wise. Very proud of myself for last night, the other half and I are no more as of yesterday (but still cohabitating, can you say stress), and I went to a girlfriend's for dinner, brought my Protocol food and stayed on plan. Total lost so far: 5.0 pounds. Day 2 - 131.8 (-1.1), Day 3 128.9 (-2.9), Day 4 (today) 127.9 (-1.0)

Other than a brutal detox headache the last couple of days, I am very pleased with how things are going. I'm still going rogue, with the ground turkey and the cherries and blueberries, and averaging in the 470s range calorically. So far, so good. I'm sleeping a bit more, which I expected to have happen, and right now thankfully have the time to do that. Sleep is so important while on the HCG

Round 5 Update

Sunday -Round 5, Phase 1 (loading) Day 1. 131.8

Once again, I did one loading day, it seemed plenty the last couple of rounds, and truthfully I don't think I could take two days of gorging at this point. Honestly folks, it is NOT as fun as it sounds. Without going into the details of what I ate (because depending on where you are at this process it can be triggering), I concentrated on healthy fats, full fat dairy, bacon and other high fat protein. Things I've learned about maintenance

Note - these are things that I've learned about MY maintenance - your mileage may vary.

That almond milk is best in coffee or tea, either that or take it black. Whipping cream while low in sugar causes cravings.

Stevia is better than splenda. Goal is to get to little or no sweeteners. And no, or extremely seldom, diet sodas.

That cheese, sour cream, cream cheese are cravy, “Intolerant” foods for me and should be consumed in small, infrequent doses, however sugar and starch free

A Little Progress

Well TOM is kicking my butt this time, to the point where I feel dizzy and sick...weird. I've never felt like this during.

Frustrated

Well, I think I can definitely admit that I stay away from blogging when I'm frustrated with what's going on in my journey. And that's not good, because this is the time I should be posting a lot.

Holding Steady

Well, here I am at 125.3, lost a whole 0.4 in a week lol.

No complaints really. I want to be losing weight, but at least I now know what maintenance needs to look like. My typical day lately has been 3 coffees in the morning, (with 2 TB cream in each), lunch is a nice sized salad with my homemade sugar free ranch dressing, and a protein (a lot of the time that's a couple of hard boiled eggs with a bit of butter in them, or leftover meat from the previous night's dinner). Ups and downs

Well, I certainly wasn't planning on letting six days go by without posting. Life is what happens when you're making other plans, I guess.

As if I Needed Proof!

Sorry about the long absence... last week was going fairly well, my apple and cheese day got me a half pound loss, and for the rest of the week I was hovering between 120-121.

Then came the weekend. We had a 50th birthday party for a friend (staying overnight at her house), so I decided to relax and eat what was offered and have some celebratory drinks. Anyway, Saturday night, and Sunday (we were still at her home) yielded a 5 pound gain.

A better day

Today's weight was 121.1, better.

My apple and cheese day has been a good one, with the exception of having 4 slices of sugar free bacon. Other than that, and cream in my morning coffee, I've had a good day. Calories are around 1400.

Moodwise, today has been a much better day. I'm still upset about a few things, but I'm making a point of turning my attention away from the negative. Just breathing, finding the joy and beauty in things. All is well. Not perfect, but better, well.

A long overdue update

Wow, six days since my last post - how the heck did that happen?

Well, the upshot of things, is life got busy, I was "trying" to eat Sugar Free, gaining slowly, but to my credit, eating clean, just too much. I was also trying the whole getting up at 5am to go to the gym (with only 5 hours sleep since the other half keeps us up till midnight most nights, I am NOT a no sleep girl). Yes, I am in a mood. Looooong weekend update

Days 1 & 2 Update, and on to Day 3

Day 2, I gained a pound and weighed 116.8, and day 3 (today) I am weighing in at 117.7.

Why, you ask? Well, I went a bit overboard, and ate a lot of protein. Both days were in the 1800 calorie range. And that's done now. It felt good, like it was what I needed, so I went with it. But today, I'm taking a different approach, and modeling my day after the experimenters on the Sugar Free Protocol. I'll see how that goes, then do that for a couple of days to bring the weight back in line.

Phase 3 and a new protocol - Sugar Free Protocol - 115.8

I know this comes as something as a shock. And know this, I have no regrets about doing the HCG protocol. It saved my life. I would never have lost all my weight without it.

Came in at 463 calories, which is good. I had a ryvita slice (or 20 calories worth) as I was hungry. The hunger is really bothering me, as is the lack of energy. Even with potassium, I'm getting calf cramps and head rushes. But if anyone asks, yes, for 19 pounds it's worth it. I've dealt with worse on diets lol.

And today, the same. I came in at 418 calories today, and added 20 calories of Ryvita crisp bread, I was hungry this afternoon. We'll see if that hurts tomorrow.

Man I was mad this morning. Stayed that way through most of the day.

In fact, I almost quit this round of HCG today, I was that frustrated. But I didn't.

What I want is more important to me than how I want to react. So, I had an 'eff it' day. I had a pickle with my cucumber with dinner. I had salt, I had hot sauce. Calorically, I came in at 419.

Last night's barbeque was fun, with a little drama thrown in. A neighborhood cat had gotten hurt, and we'd found it on the side of the road. Anyway, kudos to the vet who came out on a Saturday night, and kudos to our friends at the barbeque who were all part of making sure the cat wasn't

Happy Mother's day everyone!

Another rest day! My first batch of HCG didn't last quite as long as usual, as I had a few days were I took 0.55 rather 0.5 cc doses, I had increased hunger and for me at least, a slightly increased dose to build up the HCG is quite effective with this. As a rule though, people start too high and need to reduce their dose. My dose is the standard 166 IU, except for those few days when I went slightly higher.

Love it!!

Today, the exhaustion that sometimes hits me when the detoxing phase comes along hit full on. I slept almost 2 hours this afternoon, and here it is, 10:15pm, and I'm heading for bed as soon as I write this post. I feel good, I'll take some more potassium before bed, but thems the breaks. I'm sure I'll have my usual energy again tomorrow!

Well, it was a late night, my Canucks won in overtime, so bedtime was around 1am. And I was up at 8 this morning, not enough sleep really for protocol, but that's not a nightly occurrence anyway. Generally I want/need more sleep during the HCG diet.

The cold has struck, but I'm not feeling that bad, and will rest whenever I can. I am focusing on getting my 12 waters in a day, and I am sure that this is helping. I put an icepack on my head last night and found it helped

Not a bad gain for loading! I attribute it to having gained a couple of pounds due to over indulgence the last few days before this round AND to the fact that I focused on high protein, high fat choices for my loading foods, instead of starches and sugars.

Well, here it is, my one and only loading day. Fears, hurt feelings and Round 4 (a vent)

Tomorrow is round 4. Thank goodness, it’s such a relief to finally have it here! Today’s weight was scary, 132.2. But this lack of control, this time of constant sugar cravings is almost done.

Friday update

Only a couple more days to go. Holding steady at 129.3 today.

I'm enjoying a hardboiled egg along with a smoothie for breakfast lately, and I'm finding that it's holding me through the morning. Lunch the last couple of days has been a salad and a 3 eggs scrambled in 1tsp olive oil and with a slice of cheese. I've been staving off the "I need sugar" cravings until after dinner, of course it hits then, but that's only for a couple more days.

I received my HCG in the mail today - it took only 7 days to get here, that's a record for me! I feel like starting tomorrow, that's how sick I am of how I'm feeling and looking right now.

But, at the tail end of TOM, I'm figuring I'll wait a couple of days past the last day to be sure it's over. Which means I could start as early as Friday with loading. We'll see.

Monday, Monday

Well, the weekend was a little crazy. TOM is in full force, and I completely lost it on Saturday, I was H-U-N-G-R-Y, and I wanted chocolate. So I had it. Lots of it.

Which meant that I gained exactly 3 pounds by Sunday. So, Sunday was an apple and cheese correction day, and I lost 2.1 of those 3 today. So, over the weekend the net gain was 0.6.

Holding Steady

The last two days I've been 127.8 and 127.6 respectively, so even if I'm not crazy at being at this number on the scale (and the bloated uncomfortable feeling that goes with it), I am pleased that I'm just staying steady.

Here I am!!!

After a crazy few days, both on the scale and just life in general, here I am.

The scale fluctuated between 126.4 and 127.5 (with fluctuations up and down), and we had a whirlwind of social activities and eating of course.

As a result, I am on a major sugar rollercoaster again. I ordered HCG today, and am planning on doing round 4 as soon as my next TOM is over.

Wow that was a nice loss!

Today was a clean eating day, eggs and cheese for breakfast (this has become my daily routine, and I enjoy it enormously), lunch was a little different, I mixed broccoli coleslaw with 2 TB of salsa ranch dressing by Litehouse (a new favorite), and 4 oz of chicken breast. I sprinkled a little shredded cheese on top, and voila! a nutritious, delicious and filling meal!

PL Days 18-22

It's been a crazy ride over the last few days, fluctuating from 124.5 on Friday to 128.5 today. We were traveling on the weekend, and that meant eating and *ahem* drinking, and junk food. Yesterday was a clean day until we had some evening errands to do (we bought a great used but new-to-us bedroom set for very little, the catch was it was an hour's drive away, so there went the evening), and dinner ended up being Taco Bell. Wow, well that was a nice release! It was so good going to bed last night, knowing I didn't have to be afraid of what the scale would say today. I'm happy to say that I had a similar day today, calories about 1438, so I feel good about that.

Weekend Update

As you can see, it was a wild ride this weekend, lots of eating out, TOM, cold meds (yes, I have another cold).

Today has been an almost perfect apple and cheese day, so I'm hoping things will shift tomorrow on the scale in a downwards fashion.

Not a bad day over all. Did I make it to the gym? No. Despite going to bed at 11:30 last night, the other half didn't come to bed until 3am, which I didn't notice, but when he got up again at 4:30am, that was it for me. Days 57 and 58 I stayed exactly the same at 123.6, Day 59 I zoomed up to 126.5.

My apple and cheese day went nowhere, not sure why it had no effect. But it can't always work I guess.

So, the last three days have been basically maintaining. Today has been the lowest calorie wise, at 1301, yesterday I was holding strong at 1250 u til hunger overtook common sense late at night, I ended up at about 1800 (some sugar, mostly cheese). Day 52 -122.1 - Today was an over all balanced day, calorically I came in at 1517. I had a couple of sweet snacks, and will be working on keeping that to a minimum.

Day 39's gain was due (I think) to some new supplements that I tried (melatonin and 5-HTP, neither of which did what I needed them to do). Frustrating.

I'm also trying to decide what to call this phase of my life. Technically phase 4 is three weeks in length. I may or may not do another round of HCG this spring, right now I'm focusing on maintenance and also getting back to my LDW, perhaps a few pounds lower, through clean eating mixed with correction days. Just want to try it this way first, before making any decisions about another round.

Superbowl Weekend Catchup

Well, that was a good day! A nice clean eating day.

I tried macadamia nuts yesterday, and it seemed to be okay. I tend to be sensitive to some nuts, and I'd read that macadamia nuts were some of the least starchy. They also happen to be my favorites, so it's a win.

Today was a lovely day, lots of well wishes, and getting spoiled by the other half. We went to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner, I had a bunch of seafood (which I love best when I'm not the one cooking it lol) and a slice of cheesecake. During the day I ate much as usual, other than a sweet or two, so we'll see what happens tomorrow.

R3 P4 Day 7 - 115.4 (-0.4, LDW +2.6)

Well, not much of a result from my steak day, but perhaps that's the best I can hope for now that I'm at this weight.

Today, in the hope of achieving being back in range for my big day tomorrow, I decided to do an egg day, which comprised of coffee with stevia and almond milk, 3 eggs scrambled in olive oil for breakfast, 4 hardboiled eggs for lunch, 4 scrambled eggs for dinner. R3 P4 Day 6 - 115.8 (+0.3, LDW +3.0)

And today was officially a steak day!

I was surprised to only gain 0.3 with the dinner and dessert (and still shocked at how much my palate has changed), but I think I learned a valuable lesson about how to handle dinners out - treat the earlier part of the day like a corrective day, then within reason enjoy the evening.

Today I ate a pound of steak, half a tomato (only half because it was way under ripe and I just couldn't eat it), and some mayo with the steak. Way too much mayo

Ugh. Yep, the chocolate caught up with me. And while I tried to have a steak day today, the other half surprised me with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, I had the grilled salmon with broccoli and green beans, and ordered a piece of cheesecake to go, thinking I'd save it for Friday (my birthday). Then, thinking about all the salt etc that I consumed in my (delicious) salmon dinner, it's pretty inevitable that tomorrow would have to be a steak day anyway, so I ate the cheesecake this evening. R3 P4 Day 4 - 114.6 (+0.4, LDW +1.8)

So, the net effect of our night out was +0.1, I'm fine with that!

Today we worked out this evening, it's just how the day went. I know, ideally morning is the best time to exercise, but sometimes the right time to exercise is when you can fit it in. My run was great, and when I did my ab exercises, I was much stronger, so that's great!

R3 P4 Day 3 - 114.2 (-0.3, LDW +1.4)

We had a great time last night, I had two (incredibly) strong rum and diet colas, and some cheese and coffee on the way home. I'm thinking the slight loss is due to dehydration due to the alcohol, but thank goodness it wasn't a gain. I'll drink lots of water today, eat simply, and hope for the best for tomorrow.

Almond milk seems to be fine for me, I had it in my coffee yesterday, and this morning as well. I really like it, so I'm glad I'm not showing a sensitivity.

R3 P4 Day 2 - 114.5 (-0.0, LDW +1.7)

Nice and steady, love it! So the whole milk was no issue. Today I am trying almond milk for my coffee.

Tonight we're going out, meeting friends, and I plan on having a couple of drinks, diet cola and rum, so it's carb free and as low sugar as I can make it. We'll see how that goes. R3 P4 Day 1 - 114.5 (-0.0, LDW +1.7)

Wow what a great day! I came in just under 1500 calories, finished off my whipping cream this morning in my coffee, and later on had a cup with whole milk in it, and what a difference in my body's reaction - no intense craving for more, so that tells me what I already knew, high fat dairy is a trigger for me.

Dinner was interesting, I had kale, a pork chop and scrambled eggs with a tiny bit of shredded mozzarella. So, weird, but high protein and I was SO HUNGRY!

Well, that was a little better anyway, so I'll count that steak day as a success!

I came in at 1470 calories today, I'm hoping that I will be in range tomorrow, and if so, then I'll consider myself stabilized. If not, then I'll continue P3 until I feel like I'm stabilized. Arrgh!! Steak day today, my third of this round's phase 3. Which is okay. I just don't like that it's happening at the end of P3. So, I'll extend phase 3 by a day, possibly more depending on our plans on Saturday, and take it super easy and slow with adding foods back in.

Slight fluctuation, not bad.

Today, I tried cheese made from raw milk, just one ounce, we'll see what happens on the scale tomorrow. I also cut down my cream intake, by having herbal tea in the afternoon, and in the evening (although I did have some eggnog coffee, 2 coffees to be exact after dinner). So over all, a better day calorically, and dairy wise than the last little bit. Again, we'll see what the scale has to say tomorrow.

Nice slight downward fluctuation... I'll take it lol.

Today was a busy day, I had a consult with a client, grocery shopping, birthday party for our nephew. All in all a good day!

Calorie wise, I came in at around 1600, got the other half's son hooked on kale (guess what's for dinner tomorrow guys?). I'd made some to go with my chicken at lunch and let him try, and he liked it too. I cut down a bit on the dairy today, so we'll see if it makes a difference. Baby steps.

Well, darn. But with the added calories and the cheese splurge yesterday, it was bound to happen.

Hmm... I'm contemplating drinking black coffee for a few days to see just how much dairy is affecting my weight. Although, I did have a couple of tablespoons of sour cream last night, I find it's a filling, quick snack that instantly satisfies, but with my possible/probable dairy intolerance I likely shouldn't be having it.

Well, I'm not going to complain about being the same, that's the whole point of P3 after all lol.

Today I consumed just over 1300 calories, very close to my goal. I can't take all the credit, Mucinex DM gets a fair share for rendering me woozy, fuzzy headed and without an appetite.I do NOT tolerate most cold meds well, in fact usually tylenol is the only thing I take when I have a cold. But, it was kind of a good thing, I feel that thanks to today, I now have a good handle on what my meals

Well yesterday was a success! I'm following the same plan today, and I'm totally loving cilantro right now! I'd bought some the other day, wanting to find something to put in my breakfast eggs that would help me not miss cheese. So this morning's eggs had sauteed onion (in olive oil), tomato and cilantro, a little Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb, and some fresh ground pepper - delicious! Lunch was grilled chicken with onion, cilantro, cucumber and my sugar free ranch dressing. Also yummy!

Not the most I've lost on a steak day, but it squeaked me back into my LDW range, so I'll take it!

And, it's another steak day. Sigh. At first I was freaked, but after thinking it through, I came to some conclusions and decisions.

I realized though that I went a bit overboard yesterday, with the dairy, and probably calorically as well. Which leads me to my new strategy.

Today was a regular, by the book steak day (although I didn't feel like I got enough steak, you're supposed to eat steak to capacity, and I could probably have eaten another few ounces of steak, but oh well, we'll see

Well, even though I'd hoped for at least 2 pounds gone, I'm back in my range, so I'll call that a successful steak day!

Today, I'm keeping things simple, some cream in my coffee (not too much, I tend to overdo, as I love the texture and taste), breakfast was 2 eggs fried in butter with 1 slice cheese. Lunch will be 4 oz baked chicken breast, with mixed greens and 1 TB of my sugar free ranch dressing.

R3 P3 Day 9 - 115.7 (+1.8, LDW +2.9) STEAK DAY

And today is a steak day.

We were at the other half's sister's house yesterday, I stuck to what I thought were safe choices, steamed shrimp, cheese, and cucumber salad (I had one slice of cucumber, it tasted too sweet, left it alone). Earlier I'd had strawberries and blueberries with whipped cream. Not sure if it was added salt, simply too many calories throughout the day, the fruit I didn't tolerate well, possible sugar in the cuke salad, or the fact that TOM is arriving for real any day
